You’ve probably heard a lot about ginger. This “magical” plant has the power to cure a long list of illnesses, including cancer. When compared to conventional medicines, ginger has been found thousands of times more beneficial in treating cancer.
After a long period of studies, researchers were shocked from the results which indicate that cancer medications are ineffective and that they actually speed up the fatality rate in cancer patients. However, ginger has been proven to aim and destroy carcinogenic cells only, thus, it leaves out the healthy cells.
A recent study with mice done at the Georgia State University showed that ginger extract was highly beneficial in treating prostate cancer. Amazingly, the tumor decreased by more than 50%. Moreover, another study published by PLoS provided evidence for the effectiveness of shogaol, a constituent of ginger. Namely, it appears that this ingredient is much more efficient than chemo as it destroys only cancer cells, not the healthy ones.
The so called stem cells create different types of cancer. These stem cells, or otherwise known as mother cells, have the ability to regenerate and flourish endlessly. And, unfortunately, chemo cannot destroy them. Hence, they easily form new tumor colonies even when the tumor has been cured.
According to the researchers, shogaol has the ability to aim the cancer stem cells. It’s created when you dry/cook ginger roots and its application is vast. Moreover, this constituent of ginger caused a complete cell turnover, which only increased the destruction of the carcinogenic cells.
This generates a process known as autophagy and the cells begin to die off. However, the scientists explain that further research is needed so that the power of this ingredient can be further explored.
